Area information During your stay, experience the natural beauty of more than 500 Mountain lakes, caves such as Bétharram and the unique cirque at Gavarnie. Other attractions include: the Pic du Midi de Bigorre and the highest astronomical observatory in Europe and Lourdes, a world centre of Marian pilgrimage. You can also choose from a range of sports and leisure activities, such as skiing at one of the 16 resorts, white water rafting, climbing and cycling round the area whose hills have been made famous by the Tour de France.
