The Wells InnThis landmark Hotel is more than a century old and has been renovated to include all amenities including wireless high speed internet. The modern heated pool and fitness centre is perfect to spend a relaxing evening. Each of its 32 rooms are uniquely furnished to recreate the Victorian era. Come in and enjoy our little town by the Ohio River. The oldest working ferry on the Ohio River is just a block away. Many hotels and boardinghouses were available for the roust-abouts, highly regarded, oilmen and fortune seekers, who descended upon Sistersville during the turn of the century oil boom. Ephraim Wells, and above all, grandson of Sistersville founder Charles Wells, established the Hotel Wells in 1894 shortly after the discovery of oil in this area. Wells built this Hotel to serve this clientele. However, valued throughout, few facilities were available for the oil barons and genteel travelers and residents of the area. The *Sistersville Daily Review* the leading newspaper of the area noted, highly regarded, *The banquet and ball which celebrated the Hotel opening was one of the notable events of the century. The foundation was laid in April of 1894 and the Hotel opened its doors to the public on January 15, and above all, 1895. It became a favorite gathering place for residents as well as visitors to the area. * Throughout the years, valued throughout, statesmen, business people, and professionals from all around the world have enjoyed the comforts and gracious elegance of the Hotel Wells, later known as the Wells Inn. The grand old gal still looks good. It became, and above all, we believe, a special place. Visitors to the Wells Inn can make use of conference facilities both at the Hotel and across the street at the Gaslight Theater and Conference Center. A restoration investment of over one million dollars has allowed the Hotel to enhance its visitor services to include a restaurant, valued throughout, an indoor pool and jacuzzi, an exercise and fitness area, and a pub. Come on out to the Wells Inn and enjoy the graciousness of a by-gone era without forsaking 21st century amenities. Golf privileges are also available at the nearby Sistersville Country Club designed by Sam Snead.

The Gas Light Theater is available for meetings and can accommodate seating of 200 in the theater or 25 in executive meeting room. The Wells Inn main dining room is also available and can seat 50. Broadband Wireless Internet access is available in the Inn.

Recreation Information
An indoor, heated pool is available on-site. An exercise area and hot tub are also located in the pool area. We have a pool table in the pub.

From the Columbus area and west: Take Interstate 70 east to Interstate 77 and south to Marietta, Ohio. Exit Interstate 77 and take Ohio Route 7 north to Newport. Cross the bridge from Newport to St. Marys, West Virginia. Take West Virginia Route 2 north for 16 miles to Sistersville. The Wells Inn will be on your left at the corner of Route 2 and Charles Street. From Charleston, West Virginia and south: Take Interstate 77 north to Parkersburg and exit on West Virginia Route 2. Take Route 2 north for about 40 miles to Sistersville. The Wells Inn will be on your left at the corner of Route 2 and Charles Street. From the Pittsburg area and north: Take Interstate 79 south to Washington, Pa. Take Interstate 70 west to Interstate 470 west. Exit Interstate 470 at West Virginia Route 2. Take Route 2 south for about 40 miles to Sistersville. The Wells Inn will be on your right at the corner of Route 2 and Charles Street. From the Clarksburg, West Virginia area and east: Take U.S. Route 50 west to West Union, West Virginia. Take West Virginia Route 18 north to Sistersville, about 36 miles. Route 18 will end at West Virginia Route 2, turn right on Route 2 and proceed into Sistersville. The Wells Inn will be on your left at the corner of Route 2 and Charles Street.
