Area information

Bolzano's natural surroundings have long been an attraction to hikers, climbers, avid skiers and ordinary tourists who wish to experience the beauty of the area. The city-centre is a blend of plazas and covered arcaded walkways and shops. Waltherplatz or Piazza Walther is the outdoor living room of local Tyroleans. Between the months of September to November is what the locals refer to as Torggelen, the wine tasting season. Every Saturday in October, guided wine tours are available in order for visitors to learn about and more importantly taste the outstanding wines of the region.
Bolzano is less than half-an-hour from some of the best ski slopes in Europe. When the winter snow has melted, the mountains beckon to those who enjoy challenge and being in nature to do a bit of trekking, mountain-biking, climbing, hiking and golf.
