Located only four blocks from the Italian part of town, North Beach, and close to Chinatown, we are central to many attractions. You do not need a car when staying with us. Besides walking, we have excellent bus connections to anywhere you want to go in San Francisco. You can take the bus to downtown, Union Square, the financial district, Golden Gate Park, Haight Ashbury, Palace of Fine Arts, Exploratorium, Civic Center, Japan Center, Moscone Convention Center, Yerba Buena Gardens, CALTRAIN Station, METREON, Symphony Hall, San Francisco Opera House, City Hall, City Library, etc. The list is endless...and the bus stop? It is right next to our Travelodge. If you prefer a taxi, you are looking at only $5 - $10 to get to most attractions. This is nothing compared to what you would have to pay for parking, not to mention the headache involved in finding a parking space or place to park in this city. - Fisherman's Wharf : The history of the wharf goes back to the gold rush era, when Chinese immigrants fished off shore for the hordes of shrimp, oysters and salmon. Italian fishermen followed. They set up family stands along the beach selling crab and other seafood delicacies. You can still find fishermen and their boats along the piers in the early morning hours, but the area has changed into a place full of restaurants, shopping and family attractions. Fisherman's Wharf and San Francisco are famous for clam chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl.
