Smith River's emerald waters and soaring canyon walls comprise one of the largest wild and scenic River Systems in the United States. This spectacular river is the heart of the Smith River National Recreation Area, a 305,000 acre region offering easy access to water sports.
Golfing
Del Norte Golf Club, along Smith River north of Crescent City, is a small but challenging course. Several small streams and a couple of gullies come into play on the 9-hole course, which can be played as an 18-hole course. Also located near Crescent City is the Kings Valley Golf Club, a 9-hole three par course that provides challenging practice for the short game. Crescent City also has a covered driving range.
Beach Activities
Crescent City is a Coastal town with the Pacific Coast at it's doorsteps. Various beautiful beaches allows one to enjoy the following activities: Tide Pooling, Beachcombing, Agate Hunting, Calming, Sailing, Kite Flying, and Whale Watching. Our safe commercial and recreational harbor has facilities to enjoy sailing and fishing, as well as Whale watching from various view points.

Access to beaches makes it easy to surf. Join in the fun at our Annual Noll's Long Board Classic, held in the first week of October. Winding Surfing is also carried out at Lake Earl.
