• Kuala Lumpur : Kuala Lumpur, the cosmopolitan capital of Malaysia, is a major tourist destination, renowned for it's well preserved architecture. One fine example would be the Masjid Jame (Jame Mosque). This Arabian styled building is situated at the junction of the two rivers Kelang and Gombak and is nestled within a grove of coconut palms. Not far away is the Chan See Shu Yuen Temple, made up of Chinese pavilions andcourtyards depicting the Taoist faith.
• Tuaran : Tuaran, with its pretty rural scenes of padi fields, water buffaloes and village houses amidst the backdrop of majestic Kinabalu offers several scenic tourist spots. The Sunday market, or locally known as "Tamu", is a riot of local colour and flavour. Here you can bargain on handicraft, local cakes or "kueh" fruits and more. Or go on a river cruise into the dense mangrove swamps of the Mengkabong river; you can drop by on a hatchery research center and admire huge groupers, parrot fish and trevally. En route to the Kiulu river for whitewater rafting, you try out the hanging bridge at Tamparuli a small town not far from Tuaran . In the wet season, the Kiulu river is a scale 3-4, which will thrill adventurers!
• The Mengkabong Water Village : The Mengkabong water village, only 12 minutes away from the resort, offers you a glimpse of the traditional lives of the sea gypsies, the "Bajau" who live mostly in quaint wooden houses, built on stilts, resting above the water of the river.

Shangri-la*s Rasa Ria resort is on 3km of white sand beach. The resort is set in more than 400 acres of lush tropical jungle and yet is only 40 minutes form the international airport.

From the airport it is a 10 minute drive along a clear dual-lane to town. From the city one may take the coastal highway which runs parallel to the beautiful Likas bay. From there it is a leisurely drive along the Sulaman highway crossing over the longest suspension bridge in Sabah to arrive at Shangri-la s Rasa Ria resort
