Limoncillo Pony Club
Limoncillo, or the "little lemon," is the brainchild of Clara Icaza (one of Latin America's top chefs) and restaurateur Jennifer Spector, both of whom earned their stripes in upscale Manhattan restaurants before bringing New York-style dining to Panama.
Greenhouse
Greenhouse has more than a dozen hot and cold wraps -- fresh tuna, smoked salmon, and falafel, among others; sandwiches are hearty and include a delicious portobello mushroom sandwich, and probably the best veggie burger available in Panama City.
Mostaza
Featuring a cozy dining area with thick white tablecloths, candles, exposed brick walls, and tasty cuisine. Mostaza serves pasta, fresh grilled fish, and chef's specialties.
Manolo Caracol
Martin Fierro
Named after Argentina's epic literary hero, a gaucho who wandered the pampa, this restaurant, serves thick slabs of beef and other meats that would satisfy a gaucho or any weary traveler who's had a hard day and longs for a hearty, satisfying
Ego
Ego is a cosmopolitan bar/cafe, on a quiet corner of Plaza Bol?var, that serves tapas. Make a meal out of hot chile ceviche; a salad of arugula, fig, and Camembert cheese; and cilantro beef skewers.
Sushi Itto
There are dozens of fanciful rolls, with sweet and spicy sauces, that go far beyond the classic California roll and fresh sashimi. They also serve teppanyaki, udon, and yakisoba noodles with meat and shellfish.
Caf? Pomodoro
Pomodoro is a toned-down and moderately priced venue for a casual, tasty meal. The pasta here is fresh, homemade, and hearty, and you can build your own pasta dish by choosing from any kind of noodle, and pairing it with one of 15 sauces.
El Patio Mexicano
Panama City's top Mexican restaurant seems more Mexican than Mexico itself. The food here is authentic Mexican more than Tex-Mex. Don't forget to try their great, frosty margaritas!
Can Masoliver
Try the rib-eye with mushrooms, filet with anchovy sauce, a traditional paella (a Catalan-style seafood risotto), grilled octopus, or fresh tuna steak in peppercorn. Can Masoliver has a well-chosen wine list, too, with mostly Spanish varieties.
