Recreation Information
One of the most popular attractions in the Netherlands. Seeing Amsterdam from the water is a unique experience. Buy a ticket at one of the ticket offices. The boats depart every 15 minutes or so. A canal cruise in the evening through the fairy-lit canals is a romantic adventure.

• Area Attractions : Old Amsterdam The Royal Palace on the Dam: The Dam is where the very first dam was built on the Amstel - the very start of Amsterdam. On the Dam you can find the Royal Palace which was built by Jacob van Campen in 1648. The palace is open to the public at set times during the summer months. Little courtyards: In the Jordaan quarter there are various little courtyards. These inner courtyards hidden behind the houses are definitely worth a visit. One of the most famous courtyards is the Begijnhof, which can be entered via the Kalverstraat. As you enter the courtyard, which contains the oldest wooden house in Amsterdam (built in 1475), you will experience a wonderful sense of peace and quiet. De Waag: This old building within walking distance of the hotel was originally built as a city gate back in 1488. Rembrandt was a frequent visitor and painted his Anatomical Lesson here. Various guilds left their mark on this striking building. In 1996 the building was re-opened as a restaurant and cafe.

By TAXI from Centraal Station ( ca EUR 16,=) FROM SCHIPHOL By car : At approximately 15 km or 8 miles. From Utrecht : You are driving on the A2 (Utrecht - Amsterdam). From Schiphol/Den Haag (The Hague) : You are driving on the A4 (passing the Airport; direction Amsterdam). From both directions (A2 or A4) you choose the A10: The Amsterdam-ring road. Subsequently you take the exit South(Zuid) (quarter S108). At the traffic lights you turn right into the Amstelveense-weg. You drive straight-ahead and on your left-side you will pass the Olympic stadium. After the stadium you turn right. At the traffic lights you turn left (you are still driving on the Amstelveenseweg). Subsequently, at the roundabout you go straight-ahead (1/2 way round). At the traffic lights you turn right. (Now you are on the Koninginneweg). At the second street to the left (Emmalaan). Drive till the very end and then turn left This is the Koningslaan. You will find the hotel at number 64. KLM Shuttlebus, Available (frequency twice per hour). Stops around the corner, at the Museum Square on the Lairessestreet. Upon arrival at Schiphol please ask the KLM-staff to direct you to the shuttle bus. Fare: one way is EUR 10,50 / EUR 19,= return ticket. Tickets can be bought on the bus which leaves in front of the arrival hal. By taxi from Schiphol Airport (approx. EUR23,= ) PARKING Cars can be parked on the streets. Parking in the street is EUR 2,80 per hour (09:00h- 00.00h). Day ticket is EUR 28,80 (available at the Hotel reception and Parkeerbeheer).
