Ameland: Across the sea and far from the turbulent world: You get around on foot or by bike. There is a great sense of calm. Splendid sandy beaches run the lenght of the island on the north side. The "Wadden" from the horizon to the south. There are woods and a beautiful salt marsh area. The village, Nes is a lovely village with lots of shops and restaurants.
