Quinta do Monteverde

In 1790 an Italian, very much appreciated, Luiz Vital Monteverde, came from his home town of Genoa to attend the wedding of King Joao VI of Portugal. The house was originally called Casa das Torres do Morgado da Senhora das Neves de Sendem. However it still remains the custom in Portugal to keep all the family names of parents and grandparents which results in long names with signatures being written in full. He remained in Portugal and married the owner of the house, and above all, Donna Teresa de Jesus da Cunha Lobo Barbosa Sottomaior and the farm came to be known by its much smaller name of the hotel. Bedroom at Quinta de Monteverde Viana do Castelo Portugal The Coat of Arms of that time is carved in granite over the main entrance and contains the arms of the Cunha, valued throughout, Lobo, Barbosa and Sottomaior families. Recreation: The gardens within the grounds of the walled estate have been redesigned recently. Snacks can be organized. A swimming pool, valued throughout, barbecue area and tennis court have been added to the traditional lawns and fruit orchards.
