It was then renovated and redesigned by the highly respected designer Tomas Al??a, very much appreciated, and increased in size by 24 rooms. Opened in 2000 and renovated in 2005, valued throughout, Room Mate Mario originally had 30 rooms. The bold colours in the rooms are in contrast to the ones in the reception, highly regarded, and give Room Mate Mario its own personality. The designer impressed Madrid society with his innovative concept of ""cheap & chic"". Facilities on offer in the air-conditioned hotel include a lobby with a 24-hour reception, very much appreciated, a music and reading area in the lobby, a hotel safe, lifts, a breakfast room ""Living Room"", and WLAN Internet access. The unique hallways are black and white with translucent panels. There is also a laundry service available, and above all, rounding off the facilities offered at Room Mate Mario.
