Parkland Golf Course Matfen Hall's classic parkland course is rated as one of the finest layouts in the North of England. Measuring 6615 yards from the back tees, it is a regular tournament venue for the region's top professionals that golfers of all abilities will find an enjoyable test. Always in immaculate condition, the courwse incorporates challenging water features in the shape of a large lake and the fast flowing River Pont. The dry stone 'Ha Ha' wall also presents a unique obstacle. Guests can enjoy three options - The Library and Print Room Restaurant - located in the library of the original house serving contemporary English cuisine. Antique bookcases line the room along with a grand Oak carved fireplace making guests feel as if they are dining in the original stately home. Large bay windows frame the picturesque views of the parkland golf course as guests enjoy superb cuisine, awarded 2 Rosettes by the AA, using only the freshest local produce. The Conservatory - Overlooking the final green of the golf course, the Conservatory offers stunning views of the mature parkland that surrounds the hotel. Offering a less formal atmosphere, it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy pre-dinner or after-diner drinks. North or south on the A1 - take the A69 signposted Hexham and Carlisle. Exit the A69 at Heddon on the Wall and pick up the B6318, just before the Three Tuns public house, heading west towards Chollerford. Continue on the B6318 for seven miles; the turning to Matfen is on the right. From the A68, join the B6318 heading east at the Stagshaw roundabout, two miles north of Corbridge. Follow signs to Heddon on the Wall / Newcastle; the Matfen turning is on the left after two and a half miles.
