"The Meetings Place" - the conference and meeting facilities affords our business customers an up to the minute environment conveniently located within the ancient city walls of the North of England's premier historic city. The Meetings Place itself is a self-contained conference centre comprising of four modern meeting rooms designed with your needs in mind. Each of these rooms can be adapted in a variety of layouts to suit individual requirements. Flexibility is the key word. So much so that there is a breakout area with unlimited hot and cold refreshments so you do not have to worry about anytime constraints at crucial times during your meeting.

Taking its name from the riverside Emperors Wharf and its Roman origins, it was here that the whole timber from the Northern Europe and Scottish forests was off-loaded then cut in the Sawmill before being sold as working wood to local builders, joiners and carpenters. The Old Sawmill has been completely restored to provide a fully equipped fitness facility within the hotel grounds. Emperors is available free of charge to all hotel guest who are either following a personal fitness programme or just fancy a tone up. Due to the popularity of the pool, booking may be required on your arrival at the hotel. The following facilities are available: Cardio-vascular gym, Free weight area, a counter current hydro-therapy training pool, separate male and female saunas, a range of classes including aerobics, spinning & circuits. Opening times: Mon-Fri 6.30am - 9pm, Sat 7.30am - 7pm, Sun 8am - 3.30pm. Golf, fishing, tennis and an abundance of other recreational facilities are available nearby.
