Hiking in the Odda county with its extraordinary nature offers unforgettable hiking trips. Choose from Hardangervidda, Skjeggedal or one of many shorter trips in the county, you can be sure that a great experience is waiting for you. Skiing and cross-country skiing is a must in the winter months in Hardangervidda, R?ldal and Seljestad. Seljestad with the lightened track offers evening- and night- skiing. Possibilities for alpine skiing available at then Roldal Ski-Center or Summer Ski Center at Folgefonna glacier (Jondal). Glacier climbing available on the Buer glacier. There are professional guides and those who are interested will get proper equipment. Hunting: great reindeer-hunting possibilities in autumn in Hardangervidda, other, especially small animals- and bird-hunting possible in most of the areas. Hunting card needed. Biking: a variety of biking trips is offered in the Odda county. First we have to mention Hardangervidda with its paths and secondly Seljestad and you can also try the old road from Seljestad to Roldal (road over the mountain used before the tunnel was built).

• Local attractions: : Museums and churches: The Odda Church was built in 1870. On the altar, there are two paintings; the crucifixion and the Holy Communion. You can find information about the services at Odda county's homepage. The Skare Church was consecrated in 1926. "Chapel church" was built in timber according to old tradition. **Nature: there are several known tourists paths to Folgefonna. One of them is a 3 hours walk from the centre of Odda. Take your skis on the back and be prepared for the tough climbing. But coming on the top and enjoying skis for example in the middle of July is worth it. Path leads to the cottage Holmaskj?r. **Hardangervidda: in 1981 a big area of this mountain plateau became protected as National Park. The landscape is very varied. In the central and eastern parts there are open, almost flat plateaus, while in the south and west the area is broken up by high mountain ridges, reaching some 1700 metres in height. In Hardangervidda contains the largest herds of wild reindeer in Europe and also other animals can be seen here, for example rare arctic fox. Area houses a glacier, Hardangerj?kulen, the sixth largest ice-cap in continental Norway. **Oddadalen (the valley of waterfalls) and Latefoss is the gate to Odda from the south. The valley is narrow, with steep mountain sides and a wild river next to the road. When driving through the valley, you will see 5 big waterfalls, one of them the famous twin waterfall Latefoss. **Buer valley and Buer glacier is an arm of Folgefonna glacier, the third largest glacier in Norway. The road to the glacier leads through the Buer valley surrounded by beautiful and wild nature and steep mountains. The distance from the centre of Odda and from the Hardanger Hotel to the glacier is app. 8 km. The whole trip to the glacier and back takes app. 3 hours. **The Oddmund stone is a big stone located at Hildal, app. 10 min drive from Odda centre. A stone fell down the 12th of March 1978, and it has been named after the landowner.
