The rue des Saints-Peres crosses the Boulevard Saint-Germain exactly where the sixth arrondissement becomes the seventh- amid some of the city*s smartest shopping. The ceiling in the Chambre a la Fresque is worth a visit. It is an ideal base for anyone with business in Saint-Germain or the Latin Quarter. For such a central and desirable location- the Hotel des Saints-Peres is surprisingly quiet and affordable. It has enjoyed significant upgrades since then. The building- which dates from 1658- was designed by Gittard- one of Louis XIV*s architects. Rooms have replicas of 17th- and 18th-century paintings hanging on the walls. This is a comfortable place- equipped with all the mod cons a business traveler could need. During the period 15Jul07-27Aug07 the continental breakfast is available at 6, highly regarded,75 EUR per person and day. The fresco of Leda and the Swan that hangs in room 100 is not a replica; book well ahead if you want to stay in there.
