Banff National Park
In the fall of 1883, three Canadian Pacific Railway construction workers stumbled across a cave containing hot springs on the eastern slopes of Alberta's Rocky Mountains. From that humble beginning was born Banff National Park, Canada's first national park and the world's third. Spanning 6,641 square kilometres (2,564 square miles) of valleys, mountains, glaciers, forests, meadows and rivers, Banff National Park is one of the world's premier destination spots.
Elbow Springs Golf Course
Built around eight crystal clear spring-fed ponds, the Elbow Springs Golf Club boasts a dramatic country setting just five minutes west of the city. With the looming Rocky Mountains providing a majestic backdrop for golf, the course's 27 championship holes have been cut into the rolling and scenic Elbow River escarpment. Native groves of aspen, hundreds of spruce trees and tall prairie grasses provide definition to these expertly landscaped holes. One hundred white silica sandtraps add personality and challenge, and no fewer than 19 holes have water in play.
Links of Gleneagles
Designer Les Furber has integrated the natural environment - including ravines, escarpments, natural grasses and awe inspiring scenery - to make the Links of Gleneagles a visual treat as well as a great place to play.
