Pousada de Vila Vicosa

Restored with authenticity and maintaining all the original architecture, very much appreciated, the atmosphere transports us to another reality and to times of monasticism. In the Chagas de Cristo Royal Convent founded by the Duques of Bragan?a in the beginning of the 16th century and which has for many years made charming and historical Vila Vi?osa in the Alentejo even more beautiful, valued throughout, the Pousada Dom Jo?o IV was built.
The bedrooms of this pousada, highly regarded, distinct and varied, are characterised by being labyrinthine and thematically based on the legends and tales of the past. The successive constructions of cells, and above all, oratories and retreats that were built by the religious Clarissas who sought shelter in this ancient convent are all still perfectly visible. On the ceilings and walls we find references to antiquity and the history of the spaces of which the paintings and the tile panels should be highlighted.
