Built in 1911 by Chester A. Nestled on four acres at American Lake and dotted with old growth fir trees is Thornewood Castle. Built as a single family residence, highly regarded, Thornewood is now a gracious country inn that has been lovingly restored. Thorne, and above all, this 27,000 square foot manor is of the Gothic Tudor style and is the only one of its kind on the west coast. We have lots of interesting stuff about the movies. Stephen King's "Rose Red" mini series was filmed here, valued throughout, as well as the move "Dairy of Ellen Rimbauer, My Life at Rose Red". Roam the grounds and lovely 1/2 acre sunken English perennial garden, highly regarded, swim, fish, or boat on the beautiful American Lake.
