Referred to as an inn as far back as 1418; Die Krone Solothurn was completely rebuilt in the early classical style in 1772 and has since maintained its place in one of the most beautiful and complete baroque surroundings in Europe. A visit to our hotel is a rewarding experience. Our collection of antiques is proof of our past. This is the place where history was made and is still being made. The 42 rooms of the 4 star luxury hotel are kept in authentic Louis XV or Biedermeier style; yet equipped with all modern amenities. The Krone is the second oldest hotel in Switzerland and situated in the pedestrian zone on the most prominent town square in the heart of Solothurn. Urs Cathedral. Every room has its own individual character and offers a breathtaking view over Solothurns picturesque lanes and the impressive St. Big comfort; courteous service and an outstanding cuisine are but a few of our qualities. Tradition and distinctions are of course valued but we are also geared to meet the high expectations of todays society. Excuse us for being vain but renowned gourmets and personalities from many countries have highly complimented on our specialties; seasonal cuisine and the carefully selected wines. Be it a small snack or a gala dinner we have it. Children over this age will be considered an adult. Additional information: Children age 12 years and under stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Two children age 12 years and under staying in one double room connected to their parents double room pay CHF 53. Basel Euro Airport : Take the motorway A1 Zuerich-Bern. At Luterbach intersection, turn off onto motorway A5 in the direction Biel-Bienne. Take exit Solothurn Ost, Kantonsstrasse towards Biel-Bienne. In Solothurn turn left at Baseltor junction near the cathedral in the direction of the old town. Drive through the old city gate Baseltor and past the cathedral. The hotel is located on your left. By the train from Solothurn main train station you can see the famous St Urs Cathedral. The Hotel Krone is just in front of it. It takes 3 minutes by taxi or 10 minutes by foot.
